| Dear Cheryl and Mike. Thank you so very much for the Trip around Butte and all the goodies. I'm working on some stories. The main one will go to the Prime Time -- Bozeman.... It's a Senior Newsletter that reaches a lot of Southwest Montana. Those people like to travel and see new things. But the day was enjoyable and I know I'll come back for some closer looks. I have my home here for sale, and when it does, I plan on moving into Butte. I want to do the Lady, take another trolley ride (I did one of the last in the Old car)... and of course eat more pasties!! Good Luck with your further ventures. Zelpha Harrison, MT |
Mike and Cheryl: Hi. Just wanted to thank you both for a lovely time spent in Butte. And thanks also to your son, Mike, for helping me out with the car. Cheryl, I got a CD with old photos of the M&M from Mike Byrnes before I left. I have one strong possibility at this point for a magazine article on the bar's reopening, and the disc may be all that I need. At least at this point, it seems like that. I'll let you know though if I might need some indoor shots of the current scene. And thanks so much for your offer to help. I have a couple of other ideas for articles but I'm traveling for the next week or so; it may be a short while until I can make the necessary inquires. Anyway, just wanted to touch base, and thank you -- and everyone else in Butte -- for your warm hospitality. Regards, Colleen Colleen Roach Writer/editor/media consultant Everett, WA |

| Mike and Cheryl, I wanted to express my gratitude for your hospitality last weekend. I apologize that I did not write sooner, but I have been on the road and my internet connection has been spotty at best. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and learned a great deal about Butte. I have a phone interview with Monica Cavanaugh tomorrow, to round out my Irish Heritage piece for the Irish Reporter publication. I had a great meeting with Walter last Sunday. I believe between Walter's story and some input from Monica, I should have the piece completed this week. I will let you know when to expect it in the publication. I will be in touch and I thank you both once again. Warm Regards, Sean Conneely |
| Hi Mike and Cheryl Just want to thank you for a great weekend. I was very impressed with the town, the people, and what you all have to offer. I have a number of different angles for articles and will send copies once they are published. Thanks Heaps!! Carol Carini Billabong Publishing LLC International Travel Writer |
Dear Cheryl and Mike-- That was a great weekend! Thanks so much for letting me get to know Butte. The food was good, the company excellent, and the scenery incomparable. I saw a golden eagle, a huge herd of pronghorns, and lots of little rock and ground squirrels. I never did find a rock shop, but I'll leave that for next time. There will be a next time. You put a lot of thought and planning into that weekend, and it showed. Thanks also for being gracious hosts to us all. Everyone I talked to had a great time. Several journalists were surprised by the generosity of the people out there: it's good to know that still exists. I won't burden your time any more--after all, I've got newspapers to call! Thanks again for your work and your assistance. Both made last weekend truly memorable. Sincerely, Janet Deaver-Pack |
Thanks again for everything. I stayed an additional two days and fished with Bob, learned a great deal. I've submitted a proposed article to Northwest FlyFishing Magazine about winter fishing on the Big Hole out of Butte. I'll be back again in June for more. Dave Shorett |
| Dear Mike, Cheryl, and Old Butte Tours- Thanks for letting Joe and I attend the Old Butte excursion you hosted. I gained so much knowledge about your area! I did get a chance to “chat-up” your tours on the radio for a few minutes in a very informal interview. I know I sold at least one listener (the DJ)! He is planning on taking the trip to Butte for the walking tour with his son during one of his days off this summer. Everyone was exceptionally friendly, especially looking after Joe during and after his accident. We did miss a few places we wanted to visit on Sunday, but I know we can head back over to Butte and take the walking tour to see most of them. Joe is doing fine. He tore his quadriceps so is still in a bit of pain, but the hospital gave him some Vicoden for that. He feels really bad about “causing trouble”. Just wanted to give you an update. Most likely we will be back over to Butte in June to continue where we left off. We wanted to get some photos of the ghost signs, and more of the architecture too. I hope to have at least a draft or two of the area written up by then. If you are interested in seeing them, I’ll be sure to bring copies. You are doing a great thing for Butte, and for Montana! Keep up the excellent work, Michele McAlister Traffic Director KCAP-AM, KZMT-FM, KHKR-FM, KBLL-AM & FM |
| Hey Mike & Cheryl: Just wanted to thank y'all for the great weekend. I had a great time and even some of the more seasoned travel writers had a complete hoot. There's something about those Butte-icians (we writers were so inspired by the creativity of the Butte dialect we decided to coin a few of our own). Anyways, thanks again. Gaylene |
Hello Mike and Cheryl. Thanks again for all of your hard work and hospitality. (Marina loved her press pass, by the way, and took it to school with her this morning.) I plan to sort through my notes over the next couple of weeks then try to get back uptown soon. -Peter |
| Hi Mike & Cheryl, Just wanted to thank you for rolling out the red carpet for us during the Old Butte Tour. It was fun to come back and learn the wonderful history we were never aware of -- even though we lived there! It will be a great addition to our article for Country Discoveries, and some other ideas we're pitching. We'll be sure to send clips when they're published. Thanks again for an excellent experience! | Mike and Cheryl, I apologize for not sending a formal "Thank You" sooner, but having just re-located to Helena has kept me very busy. I thoroughly enjoyed your hospitality and the time I spent in Butte. I want to thank you again for getting me the much needed batteries for my digital camera. I hope Denny has shared the information and photographs I sent to him. Mayor Mike is suppose to send me photos he took some 25 years ago of the "ghost signs." I took about 20 myself. I will send you a tear sheet or copy of my article as soon as I get it. Thanks again. Albert Hall |
| Mike and Cheryl, Indeed, for me, it was a fun, informative, and productive weekend. You "Butticians" did a great job of putting it all together (but next time keep me in the city to avoid the after-hours drive). I submitted a piece to the Missoulian but (naturally) haven't heard anything yet. I'm also submitting it to some history-based periodicals. If it doesn't get picked up soon, I'll send you a copy for the archives. thanks again, John |
Hi Mike and Cheryl: Thank you and all those involved for the warm hospitality during the writers' weekend. I enjoyed the city and hope to return someday. I will send you a selection of photos soon. I should be submitting a couple of articles to local newspapers in the near future. I will send you copies if and when they are published. I am optimistic! Warm Regards, Mark Sametz |
